September Reflections: Gentle Goodbyes, New Beginnings, and Sacred Gatherings

September has always carried a special energy. There is a shift in the air as summer gently fades. Autumn steps in with its crisp invitations to let go and release. It’s a time to prepare for renewal. This month, I’ve been especially attuned to those themes of transition.

At the very beginning of summer, I became an aunt. Welcoming my nephew into the world has been one of the sweetest blessings I’ve ever known—the tiny grip of his hand, the softness of his presence, the way new life instantly expands the heart.

Not long after, I found myself saying “I love you and travel well” to both of my grandparents—only ten weeks apart. It’s bittersweet to witness the cycle of life so closely. Yet, I found comfort in the natural unfolding of it all. I was able to sit with them, hold their hands, offer reiki, and simply be present. My grandmother’s grip was still strong, even while bedridden. My grandfather, however, had no grip left—just the softness of someone ready to let go.

He had spent ten weeks without the love of his life, the one he had known for so long. And when it was his time, he chose what felt like the highest form of being—Love. In that moment, I realized: they’re together again. The timing of it all—new life arriving as others transitioned on—felt like life’s way of showing me its unbroken circle, a rhythm that is both tender and profound.

“A raw piece of amethyst from my grandparents’ home in Las Cruces, New Mexico. It is the very place I first fell in love with the magic of crystals.”

Growing up, I visited my grandparents in Las Cruces, New Mexico. It was there that I was first introduced to crystals. I remember instinctively feeling drawn to their beauty, their mystery, and their quiet magic. At the time, I couldn’t explain it—but I knew they carried something powerful. That early connection has remained with me throughout the years. It has woven its way into my healing practices. I use tools today from crystal bowls to grounding stones in my classes. It feels full circle now, to look back and see how those visits shaped my path.

Life has also been teaching me the importance of making room for life itself. Taking time—because time will pass either way. This month I carved out space to be with my best friend from college–my west coast sister. She came through Illinois on a cross-country journey from California en route to Florida. It was a glampers paradise: a 35-foot RV, complete with two cool cats and two even cooler spirits. Believe it or not, it was my first time ever camping in my home state. I was blown away by the beauty, the quiet, and the peace that surrounded us.

While at the campground, I had the honor of guiding a private yoga session for my friends. We also enjoyed a sound session right on the dock. The morning sun glowed over the water. Fish leapt out of the lake. The air was alive with the sounds of nature. I chose not to use any music or speakers—just my voice and my crystal bowls. Every time I play, I enter a trance-like state, channeling source in the moment. No two sound baths are ever the same. I teach what’s inside me. I share this with those who are in front of me. That day felt like a reminder of why I do what I do.

Their visit also gave us the chance to join a Profesh Sesh in Wrigleyville, hosted by Hi Focus Media. These gatherings are designed for plant-friendly people to come together so, as they say, “no stoner has to stone alone.” It’s community at its finest—bringing sports fans, plant lovers, and curious souls together in one space. It felt so aligned to be there, surrounded by like-minded folks, celebrating both cannabis culture and connection.

On September 24th, we also held a beautiful pop-up at RISE at The Salt Shed. It was complete with grounding movement, sound healing, and delicious enhancements. These made the evening extra special. I can’t express my gratitude enough to Mari, Angel, and Jillian. I am thankful to everyone at RISE for all the effort they put into making these events possible. And to every friend, returning student, and newcomer—this community thrives because of you. Together, we’re building something that feels both nourishing and expansive.

A special thank to Heffer BBQ— my family—for coming out and gracing us with your extraordinary food. Truly, it was BBQ as art. If flavor could paint, this was the masterpiece. With Smokey Chuck Delights, their special sauces elevated the experience. Every bite carried the same love and intention that filled the space.

Shout-out to Mexijuana Edibles—the infused Chamoy took the Señorita THC margarita mocktails to the next level. That sweet-spicy kick was the perfect touch, and honestly, this event set the bar for all the ones to come!

Last, a HUGE shout-out to Mike from Drink Cosmos. He provided the beautiful dehydrated garnishments. The oranges were a total hit! If you’re looking to elevate your own cocktails or mocktails, be sure to order your garnishments from Drink Cosmos. Support local—each of these incredible contributions came from local businesses, and together, they helped create something truly special.

✨ And as the seasons shift, I’m reminded that transition is a practice too. Summer taught me to embrace connection in motion—now autumn invites us to fall into alignment.

On the evening of Wednesday, October 15th 7-9PM, I’ll be guiding Gentle Movement + Sacred Sounds. This will be part five of Yoga Stoned USA’s Wellness Series in collaaboration with RISE at the Salt Shed. It is an autumn gathering featuring special guests and thoughtful collaborations that bring even more depth to the experience. Together, we’ll share a gentle yoga + sound sesh and enjoy a refreshing Señorita THC Margarita beverage. The pop-up remains flower/vape-friendly outdoors. Edibles and drinkables are enjoyed inside. It is a safe and relaxed space to unwind and flow with the evening.

This summer (and year so far) has reminded me of a valuable truth: connection is everything. Connection with ourselves, with each other, and with the spaces we move through.

Come join me this fall season, bring a friend, and let’s rise together.

In alignment and intention,
Jennifer
